What is a Plasma skin tightening treatment?
Fibroblast Plasma Skin Tightening a revolutionary procedure that tightens and lifts the skin, face, and parts of body with instant results! It is highly effective and a remarkable holistic alternative to traditional laser and standard cosmetic surgery.
This revolutionary procedure removes the excess skin and causes instant contraction of the tissue, eliminating wrinkles and sagging.
This is a major breakthrough in the beauty industry due to it’s effectiveness and low cost with immediate results. The “dots” last less than a week and you are left with beautiful tight new skin. The procedure is done with a numbing cream and with very little discomfort. It compares to a sunburn.
How does Plasma skin tightening work?
Plasma Fibroblasting treatments work on the principle of ionized gas in the air. At the right distance from the skin, oxygen and nitrogen are mixed, and the electrostatic energy produces the plasmatic effusion or arc, which discharges onto the skin.
Without actually touching the skin, this plasma arc vaporises the skin forcing it to contract and stimulates fibroblasts – the cells responsible for the production of collagen.
Small carbon crusts form on the skin, resembling dots, which slough away over the coming days to reveal regenerated skin.
This micro-trauma and stimulation is the key to the treatments results.

How Many Treatments Are Required?
The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most patients see results instantly and will continue to improve over the course of the following eight weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to achieve better results. Appointments must be spaced out by 4-8 weeks.
How Long Does it Last?
As Fibroblast is more than a simple tightening treatment (skin volume is actually reduced), the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of Fibroblast are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further aging, but the positive results should last years, depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the final results will be seen after eight weeks. For some, an additional treatment may be required after eight weeks for maximum results. Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can increase lasting results. Some of these include smoking, alcohol consumption, prolonged sun exposure, and other factors that increase skin aging.
It is recommended that sun protection of SPF 30-50 be used daily for at least two weeks prior to the Fibroblast treatments.
Skin care products with ingredients such as retinols, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), tretinoin or any type of Vitamin Aderivatives should be avoided.
Stay out of the sun, tanning salons and refrain from using any self-tanning products for three weeks.
Come to your appointment with no makeup on.
Day of Treatment
On the treatment day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area. You may to take an antihistamine 30 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling if you are prone to swelling easily. You may continue to take antihistamines for 2-3 days following the appointment. A numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for up to 30 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the fibroblast tip, spaced closely together. You may feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be uncomfortable and slightly irritating. Treatment time is usually between 10-40 minutes, depending on the size of the area.
Immediately after treatment the area may be red and mildly swollen with small carbon crusts (spots). Clients describe this experience as a sensation similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The carbon crusts will lift within 5 -12 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following eight weeks.
Following the treatment, you will be provided with thorough aftercare instructions to follow to ensure you receive the best results. We will cover these aftercare instructions below and along with pre-care instructions. In the week following the treatment, or until the treatment area has fully healed, an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. Instead opt for a pH balanced soap (Dove), and avoid rubbing the area.
Most people will experience a mild burning sensation immediately following any Fibroblast procedure. This is similar to a sunburn which should resolve within a few hours. However, this depends on tolerance and discomfort may last longer. If they feel particularly uncomfortable, anti-inflammatories such as Advil or antihistamines such as Benadryl are suggested. It is up to the individual to decide on self-medication.
As a natural healing response, it is usual for the treated area to become swollen, especially around the more delicate area such as the eyes. Ice packs not only soothes but also helps the swelling. Recovery can vary depending on each client’s natural rate of recovery. Most people find it only lasts a few days. In extreme cases (specifically if clients do not follow aftercare guidelines), the swelling can last several days longer and may interfere with vision if Fibroblast treatment was performed in the eye area.
Initially after treatment and up to three days later, there may be occasional weeping. This is the natural healing response to the Fibroblast procedure.
As the treated area begins to heal, you may notice dryness, where a brown/black crust develops on the surface of the skin. This will flake off after a few days but in some cases can take up to 10 days.
Make sure you DO NOT PICK the crusting as it can lead to infection or scarring. It is important to keep this area clean and use ointment daily.
It is important that these crusts are not removed (never scratch, otherwise a scar will remain). Instead, twice daily in the morning and in the evening, carefully clean the areas, then disinfect it with distilled water spray and gently dab with a clean, lint-free cloth. After, apply provided ointment twice daily. It is strongly advised that you use an SPF 30-50 sunscreen (throughout the year including the colder months) to avoid sunburn as the area’s sensitivity to sunlight will be heightened for up to 3-4 months post Fibroblast procedure.
Boiled lukewarm water is best for cleaning the treated areas.
DO NOT use alcohol-based cleansers as this will slow down the healing process.
If at any time the treated area(s) become too hot, red or shows sign of pus, contact us or your doctor for advice as you maybe developing an infection.
After the independent peeling of the scab crusts (typically the 5-8 days), pink/red skin forms.
Sunscreen lotion of SPF50 is recommended six months post Plasma Lift treatment.
Swimming and sauna activities are only permitted two weeks post treatment and once all the crusts have fallen off the skin surface and the wound is completely healed and closed.
Smokers may experience a significant worsening of the blood flow, which increases the risk of wound healing and/or slowed healing.
Note that after the crusts are lost, a slight redness may remain in the following weeks to months. It usually takes 4-6 weeks (sometimes longer) until the skin has reached its normal color again.
Follow up treatment will not be before six to eight weeks from the first treatment date.
For optimum results, more than one Fibroblast treatment is usually needed and can be performed typically 6-12 weeks onwards after the initial procedure.
Aftercare is very important. For the first five days, you should not work out heavily. Make sure you are keeping the treated area clean and your applying Rehab everyday until fully healed.
Is Plasma Fibroblast for everyone? No
Here is a list of a few things that would make you not a candidate for Fibroblast. Please do other research besides this list.
HYPER-PIGMENTATION: This is an over-production of melanin which has permanently damaged the surface of the skin. It is more commonly seen in Afro-Caribbean, Mediterranean, Asian and Latin skin types. It presents as darker patches of skin. Unfortunately, Plasma Pen is not appropriate for anyone with hyper-pigmentation or having skin types 4-5 on the Fitzpatrick scale.
Like any cosmetic procedure, the Plasma Pen treatment comes with the risk of complications, including infection. These infections can cause risk to fetal health and even cause the loss of the baby. For these reasons, our practitioners will not perform Plasma Pen treatments on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
SKIN DISORDERS (E.G. PSORIASIS, ECZEMA, DERMATITIS):
All skin disorders can make the skin exceedingly dry and treatment more uncomfortable because the skin is usually thinner and more sensitive. It is not recommended to treat any areas with Plasma Pen that are affected by any of these skin disorders.
STIES OR CONJUNCTIVITIS:
If you suffer from sties or conjunctivitis, please wait at least 6 weeks following treatment prior to undergoing your Plasma Pen procedure. It is possible that the Plasma Pen treatment may cause the condition to recur if having the eye area treated. In some cases we may request written consent from your physician prior to commencing Plasma Pen treatment.
INJECTIONS / FILLERS:
It is recommended to wait at least 21 days after the filler has been administered before doing a Plasma Pen treatment. It is also common for lips with large amounts of filler or fat in them to have slower or compromised healing. In some cases, the lips can become infected more easily during the healing process after working close to the lip.
BLOOD THINNING MEDICATIONS:
Although blood thinning is not considered a listed contraindication in this procedure, it can impact the results.
There are also “natural” blood thinners that you may be digesting which can also impact the results of this procedure.
To name a few:
Grape seed extract, to name a few
How do blood thinners impact fibroblast treatment?
When the blood is thinner two things can happen; we can have more bleeding occur because the skin becomes more sensitive, and is therefore prone to bruising. This entire procedure centers around plasma. Also, because the blood is thinner we may not get a real good plasma lift (plasma coagulation) in the skin or the carbon crust (dot), which can lead to lack of good results. We don’t want our newly placed carbon dots to bleed out.
Make sure you stop alcohol intake for 3 days prior for the reason of thinning blood and dehydration. We need the skin and body to be well hydrated with good oxygen flow.
